Emergence Field Labs ("EFL," "we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting the privacy and security of data collected through our data collection tools. This Privacy Policy explains how EFL handles data collected on behalf of participant organizations ("Organizations") and clarifies our limited role in the data collection process. By using EFL's tools, you acknowledge and agree to the practices described below.
1. Purpose and Scope
EFL provides data collection and analytics tools to Organizations engaged in research, social impact, and community initiatives. EFL does not collect, access, or store personally identifiable information (PII) or any other identifying information about participants. All data collected using EFL tools is controlled and managed by the Organization that initiates the data collection.
2. Data Collection and Use
EFL's Role: EFL acts solely as a service provider, supplying the technical platform for data collection. While EFL may be able to access, view, or process raw participant data, we do not attempt to identify individuals from the data collected.
Organization's Role: The Organization that provides you with the data collection tool is responsible for the collection, management, and use of your data. All data collected is subject to the Organization's own privacy policy and data governance practices.
No PII Access: EFL's systems are designed so that we do not see or store any PII or other information that could identify individual participants.
3. Data Anonymization and Sharing
Anonymity: All data collected through EFL tools is anonymized before any analysis or reporting. EFL does not receive or process any data that could be used to identify individuals.
Data Use by Organizations: The Organization may use anonymized data for research, reporting, program improvement, or other purposes as outlined in their own privacy policy. EFL does not use, share, or sell any participant data for its own purposes.
Longitudinal Studies: The Organization may choose to use longitudinal studies, where researchers collect data from the same individuals over an extended period. This allows for the observation of changes, developments, or trends within the same subjects, making it possible to identify patterns, causes, and effects as they unfold. If data is collected in this manner, EFL's data collection tools will notify you of non-anonymity prior to starting the data collection.
4. Data Security
EFL employs industry-standard technical, administrative, and physical safeguards to ensure the secure operation of our data collection tools and to protect data in transit and when stored in the Organization's account with EFL. However, EFL does not control nor manage the storage or further processing of data once it is used by the Organization outside of an EFL product.
5. Third-Party Access
In some cases, Organizations may share anonymized data with third parties, such as research institutions or social impact partners, for approved purposes. EFL is not responsible for the data privacy practices of these third parties. Participants are encouraged to review the privacy policy of the Organization that provided the data collection tool for more information about third-party data sharing.
6. Participant Rights and Inquiries
Participants wishing to access, amend, or delete their data should contact the Organization that conducted the research via EFL's data collection tool.
7. Changes to This Policy
EFL may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Any updates will be posted on our website with the effective date indicated.
